ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, North Goa, and ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa organized an awareness programme on the promotion of green manuring and biomass recycling at Dadachiwadi, Pernem, North Goa, today. The programme was conducted under the National Awareness Campaign on Soil Health Management and the balanced use of fertilizers. The programme aimed to enhance farmers’ knowledge of sustainable agricultural practices that improve soil fertility, reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers, and maintain soil health.
An expert highlighted the significance of green manuring in Goan agriculture and elaborated on biomass recycling through various composting methods, emphasizing their long-term benefits in maintaining soil health and promoting environmentally sustainable farming systems.

Another expert introduced farmers to azolla production as a cost-effective feed supplement for livestock, explaining its dual benefits in enhancing animal nutrition and supporting soil health management.
A total of 10 farmers, actively participated in the programme, indicating a growing interest in eco-friendly and sustainable farming practices among the local farming community.
