An awareness campaign along with baseline data collection on the balanced use of fertilizers was successfully organised at Bandalemoor village in Manchal mandal of Ranga Reddy district. The programme was conducted by KVK Ranga Reddy under the ICAR–Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad.
The initiative aimed to create awareness among farmers on the importance of balanced fertilizer use while also collecting baseline information on existing fertilizer application practices in the region. Balanced use of fertilizers plays a crucial role in maintaining soil health, enhancing crop productivity, and ensuring long-term agricultural sustainability. The programme also addressed concerns related to the indiscriminate and excessive use of fertilizers, particularly DAP, which has led to nutrient imbalances in several areas.

During the programme, experts highlighted the significance of integrating livestock with farming systems through the use of farmyard manure, compost, and other organic inputs derived from animal waste, thereby promoting integrated nutrient management practices.
Farmers were also sensitized on efficient fertilizer application techniques, including proper placement methods, use of farm machinery, fertigation practices, and effective water management to improve nutrient use efficiency and minimize wastage.
The programme witnessed the participation of local representatives and 29 farmers, reflecting active community involvement and interest in adopting sustainable agricultural practices.
