The Peninsular Aquatic Genetic Resources, Kochi Centre of the ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, Lucknow, organised an aquaculture-input distribution programme today at Kumbalangi Village, Ernakulam, under SCSP to support local fishers.
Prof. K.V. Thomas, Former Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, inaugurated the event, emphasising the importance of scientific aquaculture in improving the livelihoods of marginalised communities.
Dr U. K. Sarkar, Director, ICAR-NBFGR, was also present during the programme.
The dignitaries lauded ICAR-NBFGR’s efforts in selecting Kumbalangi for this initiative. As part of the programme, fish cages, feed, and fish seeds were distributed to beneficiaries.
The event concluded with the release of fish seeds into the cages, marking a significant step towards empowering fisherfolk through technology-driven aquaculture solutions.
