ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad Launches Awareness Campaign on Soil Health and Balanced Fertilizer Use in Telangana

ICAR–National Academy of Agricultural Research Managementss, Hyderabad, successfully launched an intensive awareness campaign on the adoption of science-based soil health management and balanced fertilizer use across Telangana.

As part of the initiative, a focused programme on the balanced use of fertilizers was conducted in Chittapoor village of Manchal Mandal, Rangareddy district. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the adverse effects of excessive chemical fertilizer usage while promoting the gradual integration of organic inputs and natural farming practices in a sustainable and balanced manner.

The session commenced with a welcome address that underscored the long-term sustainability challenges associated with the overuse of fertilizers. Emphasis was placed on transitioning toward science-based nutrient management practices and the need to preserve soil fertility for future generations.

During the programme, experts sensitized farmers to the benefits of balanced fertilizer application, highlighting the importance of optimizing input use to enhance productivity while reducing unnecessary expenditure on fertilizers.

The event concluded with participants taking a collective pledge to minimize the use of chemical fertilizers and progressively adopt organic and natural farming approaches.

The campaign saw active participation from around 50 villagers, including 14 women, reflecting strong community engagement and interest in sustainable agricultural practices.
