ICAR-CCARI Felicitated by the Chief Minister of Goa for Outstanding Contributions to Coastal Agriculture

ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Old Goa, was felicitated by the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant during the state-level celebration of “11 Saal – Sankalp Se Siddhi,” marking 11 years of transformative governance in Goa. The award, presented in the presence of the state cabinet and Chief Secretary, recognised ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute’s exemplary contributions to agricultural innovation, sustainability, and rural development across Goa and other coastal states.

Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, received the honour along with his team. The Institute also participated in the event through the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) platform, showcasing key farmer-centric initiatives and technologies.

ICAR-CCARI has developed 28 improved crop varieties and 20 ICAR-certified technologies, and successfully commercialised eight innovations, supported by four patents. It has also registered the indigenous “Shweta Kapila” cattle and “Agonda Goa Pig” with NBAGR and contributed to GI tagging efforts for Mankurad Mango, Khola Chilli, and Goa Cashew. Additionally, the Institute has played a key role in shaping Goa’s Amritkal Agriculture Policy.

Reaching over 35,000 stakeholders annually, ICAR-CCARI remains at the forefront of science-led, inclusive, and sustainable agricultural development, in alignment with the national vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.
