“1st Meeting of 9th Research Advisory Committee (RAC - IX)” organized

18 - 19 March, 2022, Kerala

The ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala organized the “1st Meeting of 9th Research Advisory Committee (RAC - IX)” from 18th to 19th March, 2022.

Dr. Vikramaditya Pandey, ADG (Horticultural Science - 1), ICAR provided inputs for the improvement of the Institute’s research activities.

Dr. N.K. Krishna Kumar, Former Deputy Director General (Horticultural Science), ICAR also deliberated during the Meeting.

Dr. M.N. Sheela, Director, ICAR-CTCRI, Thiruvananthapuram outlined the ICAR-CTCRI’s major achievements during the last Year.

Dr. P. Murugesan, Member Secretary, RAC presented the recommendations of the previous RAC and the Action Taken Report.

The importance of the Tuber Crops in ensuring the food security was stressed during the Meeting. The Committee Members urged the scientists for focusing on the R&D for the area expansion and higher productivity of Tuber Crops in the country.

During the visit to the Experimental Fields / Labs, the Committee Members appreciated the Tuber Crops Field Gene Bank, Precision Farming through E-crop, Natural Farming and Pesticide from Bio-waste of Cassava, etc.
