The ICAR-National Research Centre on Meat, Hyderabad and Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), New Delhi jointly organized a three-day Training Programme on “Good Food Laboratory Practices (GFLP)” at ICAR-NRCM, Hyderabad from 25th to 27th June, 2019.
Dr. S. Vaithiyanathan, Director, ICAR-NRCM, emphasized on the importance of upgrading the analytical skills of food testing personnel in line with ISO/IEC 17025 and GFLP guidelines for achieving food safety in the country. Dr. Vaithiyanathan urged the trainees for grabbing the opportunity to enhance their learning.


Dr. Archana Tiwari, Director, FSSAI, New Delhi underlined the FSSAI’s different activities for achieving the national goal of food safety. She urged the participants for contributing towards the desired goal.
The various distinguished experts from the field of food safety and security imparted the training to the participants on the various aspects of food safety like Role of Food Testing Laboratories for Assuring Food Safety in India; laboratory infrastructure; safe waste disposal requirements; Sampling; Sample Handling and Processing, etc.
The participants were also made aware about the various Quality Control Programmes like proficiency testing; method validation; document and data control; interpretation of test results; latest trends in testing of packaging materials and regulations in packaging, etc.


The participants were provided with the exposure to the state-of the-art laboratory of ICAR-NRCM.
A total of 30 participants from Regional/State Food Laboratories and FSSAI notified Private Laboratories at Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh & Telangana attended the programme.
