Mega Campaign on “Annadata Devo Bhava” organized @Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsav

The ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ri-Bhoi, Meghalaya organized a Mega Campaign on “Annadata Devo Bhava” here today.

Dr. Mokidul Islam, Principal Scientist & Head, KVK, Ri-Bhoi, Meghalaya highlighted the importance of farming community for building a hunger-free nation. The need for promoting the Natural Farming, Organic Farming, Integrated Farming System, Cultivation of Millets for Nutrition Rich Thali in households for the nutritional security and enhancing the income to sustain & create a healthy society with self-reliance by the locals for vocals was also underlined by Dr. Islam.

The participants were distributed 30 Kgs Maize Seeds and provided with an Exposure Visit to the Organic and Natural Farming Unit of Agronomy Section, ICAR-Research Complex for North-Eastern Hills Region, Umiam, Meghalaya to showcase the various emerging technologies adopted for the scientific cultivation.

The Campaign organized as a part of the “Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsav” to commemorate 75 Years of India’s Independence registered participation by about 30 Farmers and Farm Women from 3 Villages of Ri-Bhoi District, Meghalaya.
