Certificate Course on “Soil and Water Conservation and Watershed Management” inaugurated

iiswc 011412015ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Dehradun started 113rd batch of 4 - months (08 October to 7 Feb., 2016). regular training programme “Certificate Course on Soil & Water Conservation & Watershed Management” for 25 officers belonging to six states (Punjab-2, Chhattisgarh-8, Nagaland-2, Kerala-4, Uttarakhand-2, Maharashtra-5 and 2 from ICAR-IISWC, Dehradun).

Orientation about training course and different training modules was done. Dr. Charan Singh, I/c Head (HRD&SS) and Dr. Bankey Bihari, Principal Scientists oriented the officer trainees about different training modules and mode of theoretical and practical classes. In this course, Soil and Water Conservation Engineering, Soil Management for Controlling Land Degradation, Conservation Forestry, Conservation Agronomy and Integrated Watershed Management- Guidelines and Processes are to be covered. Focus on participatory integrated watershed management, detailed project report preparation will be given. In addition, Remote Sensing, GPS, GIS and other latest techniques will be advocated to train the officers. Local watershed project exercise will be conducted.
