ICAR-KVK Churachandpur Conducts Special Campaign 6.0 to Promote Cleanliness and Efficient Institutional Management

02–31 October 2026, Churachandpur, Manipur

ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Churachandpur, functioning under the ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, successfully conducted Special Campaign 6.0 under the Swachhata Abhiyan from 02 to 31 October 2026. The month-long campaign focused on institutional cleanliness, scientific record management, waste disposal and community participation in promoting a clean and healthy environment.

The KVK organised 26 outdoor cleanliness drives involving staff and local communities. The campaign also covered the removal of obsolete records, segregation of recyclable waste and disposal of unserviceable materials from administrative sections, laboratories, training halls and farm units.

As part of the initiative, approximately 630 kg of accumulated office scrap and non-electronic waste was segregated and disposed of, while 618 sq. ft. of functional space was reclaimed across the campus. The cleared areas were reorganised to improve workplace efficiency, hygiene and accessibility.

The cleanliness drives also covered the campus surroundings, instructional farms, demonstration plots and composting units. Organic waste and weed biomass were channelled into composting activities to promote sustainable waste management and resource recycling.

Community participation remained a key component of the campaign. On 22 October 2026, a cleanliness drive involving 56 participants, including 45 farmers, was organised around the instructional farm to clean common pathways and drainage channels. Further drives were conducted on 26, 30 and 31 October, with the participation of 14, 12 and 10 people, respectively.

The campaign sensitised farmers, farm women and rural youth to waste segregation, safe disposal of agricultural residues and compost preparation as an alternative to open burning. The initiative reinforced the KVK's commitment to institutional efficiency, environmental sustainability and community-led cleanliness practices.
