ICAR-Directorate of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research, Anand, Gujarat organized Institute Research Committee (IRC) Meeting on 25, 27, 28 August, 2026. The 3-day IRC Meeting was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Manish Das, Director, ICAR-DMAPR, Anand, Gujarat.
Dr Manish Das, in his address highlighted importance of value chains of medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs) for health and wellness. He reviewed the programs in the light of Goal setting and Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning, and Impact Assessment (MELIA).

The meeting primarily focused on reviewing the research programmes being implemented at the institute. Emphasis was laid on the importance of medicinal and aromatic plants in promoting holistic health. The need for greater convergence in the implementation of the recommendations of the Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC) Memorandum, Research Advisory Committee (RAC), and Quinquennial Review Team (QRT) was also highlighted.

A total of six programs covering 17 projects in Plant genetic resource management, Crop improvement, Crop production, Crop protection, Phytochemistry and Technology dissemination and extension activities were reviewed.
The scientists of ICAR-DMAPR, Anand presented their progress of research as well as work plan under after said programs. The release proposals of two varieties, Vallabh Senna-1 of Senna (Cassia angustifolia) and Vallabh Vishwa Kalmegh (VVK-2) of Kalmegh (Andrographis paniculata) were discussed for institute release.
