Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dhalai, Tripura has been actively implementing the nationwide “Khet Bachao Abhiyan” across various villages and blocks of Dhalai district since the launch of the campaign today. The month-long awareness and outreach programme, aimed at promoting sustainable agriculture, soil health management and climate-resilient farming practices, is being carried out extensively across the district and will continue throughout June.
As part of the campaign, scientists and technical staff of KVK Dhalai have already covered more than 25 villages under different blocks of the district through awareness programmes, farmer-scientist interactions, capacity-building sessions, field demonstrations and hands-on training activities. The initiative is focused on disseminating scientific knowledge and practical agricultural technologies among farming communities to encourage sustainable and environmentally responsible farming practices.
The campaign is emphasizing several critical aspects of sustainable agriculture, including balanced and judicious use of fertilizers, natural farming, organic cultivation practices, soil health management, integrated pest and disease management, vermicomposting, crop residue management and efficient utilization of on-farm resources. Demonstrations on preparation and application of organic inputs, vermicompost production techniques and eco-friendly pest management practices are also being conducted to motivate farmers towards reducing dependence on chemical inputs and adopting low-cost sustainable technologies.

Scientists of KVK Dhalai highlighted the importance of maintaining soil fertility and conserving natural resources to ensure long-term agricultural productivity and profitability. Farmers were encouraged to make effective use of Soil Health Cards, adopt integrated farming systems, recycle crop residues and apply fertilizers in a balanced manner for improving soil health and sustaining crop productivity under changing climatic conditions.
The campaign has received an enthusiastic response from farmers across the district, with large numbers actively participating in training programmes and field demonstrations. Farmers expressed keen interest in learning scientific approaches for improving soil health, reducing input costs and enhancing farm sustainability.
Officials of KVK Dhalai informed that the “Khet Bachao Abhiyan” will continue to reach additional villages in the coming weeks with the objective of creating widespread awareness on soil conservation, sustainable crop production and climate-resilient agriculture across the district.
Through this extensive outreach initiative, KVK Dhalai is reaffirming its commitment towards empowering farmers with scientific knowledge, strengthening sustainable agricultural practices and promoting long-term agricultural development in Tripura.
