ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad Organises Save the Field Campaign 2026 (खेत_बचाओ_अभियान) in Telangana

ICAR- Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad organized Save the Field Campaign 2026 (खेत_बचाओ_अभियान) in response to the call from the Government of India and ICAR, to promote balanced fertilizer use, soil health conservation, and natural farming among farmers.

Under this programme ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad organized an awareness campaign on Balanced Fertilization use and Soil Health Management today at Indriyala village of Pochampalli mandal in Yadadri -Bhuvanagiri district of Telangana state.

The programme was conducted to enhance farmers’ understanding of scientific nutrient management practices for improving crop productivity, sustaining soil health, and promoting environmentally sound agriculture. During the programme, experts highlighted the importance of soil test-based nutrient management (STBNM) as a key approach for determining site-specific nutrient requirements of crops.

Detailed information was provided on the functions of essential macronutrients (N, P, K) and micronutrients in plant growth, development, and yield formation. The participants were also sensitized to the consequences of imbalanced and excessive fertilizer application, including nutrient use inefficiency, soil degradation, nutrient mining, environmental pollution, and reduced crop response.

The experts emphasized the adoption of Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) strategies that combine chemical fertilizers, organic manures, crop residues, and biofertilizers to achieve balanced nutrient supply and improve soil fertility. Recommendations on enhancing nutrient use efficiency were also discussed. Farmers were encouraged to adopt sustainable nutrient management practices to ensure long-term agricultural productivity, soil resource conservation, and environmental sustainability.

Around 64 farmers attended the meeting.
