ICAR- Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad organized Save the Field Campaign 2026 (खेत_बचाओ_अभियान) in response to the call from the Government of India and ICAR, to promote balanced fertilizer use, soil health conservation, and natural farming among farmers.
Under this programme ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad organized an awareness campaign on Balanced Fertilization use and Soil Health Management today in Nandaram village, Balanagar mandal, Mahabubnagar district of Telangana.
The programme highlighted the major principles of soil health management, including balanced fertilization, integrated nutrient management, soil test-based fertilizer application, use of organic amendments and biofertilizers, crop rotation, green manuring with dhaincha and sunhemp, and the application of compost and vermicompost for sustaining soil fertility and crop productivity.
A practical demonstration on seed treatment of green gram using Phosphate Solubilizing Bacteria (PSB) was conducted. Farmers were informed about the benefits of seed treatment and various methods of PSB application in the field to enhance nutrient availability and crop growth.
The importance of integrating livestock enterprises such as backyard poultry, sheep, and goat rearing with crop farming for enhancing farm income was also emphasized. Participants were educated on the effective utilization of cow dung for the preparation of compost and vermicompost, promoting sustainable and resource-efficient farming practices.
The team members and AEO addressed the queries raised by the farmers. At the end of the programme, the team members expressed their gratitude to the farmers, Sarpanch, Panchayat Secretary and AEO for their support and cooperation in successfully conducting the awareness program.
Total 31 Farmers including 17 women farmers participated in the programme.
