Dr A. K. Nayak, Deputy Director General (Natural Resource Management), ICAR, and Dr Rakesh Kumar, Assistant Director General (AAF&CC), ICAR, visited the ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Research Centre, Datia, Madhya Pradesh, today to review the ongoing research and developmental activities of the Centre.
During the visit, the dignitaries interacted with the scientific and technical staff and reviewed various initiatives undertaken for sustainable natural resource management. They highlighted the need for developing climate-resilient and resource-conserving technologies, strengthening soil and water conservation measures, promoting integrated agroforestry systems, and advancing hydrological and carbon sequestration studies for effective management of degraded lands.
The officials appreciated the Centre’s achievements, particularly in the areas of bamboo bio-fencing and fruit plantation development. They also encouraged the scientific community to intensify multidisciplinary research efforts aimed at sustainable agricultural development in the face of changing climatic conditions.
The visit reaffirmed ICAR’s commitment to promoting innovative and sustainable solutions for natural resource conservation and climate-resilient agriculture.
