The Launching Programme of the Mithun Breeding and Conservation Centre and Awareness on Scientific Mithun Husbandry was held today at Nagaland, organized by ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun in collaboration with Northeastern Regional Community Resource Management Society.
The programme was graced by Dr. K.M. Bujarbaruah as the Chief Guest and Dr. Suresh S. Honnappagol as the Special Guest.
Dr Girish Patil, Director, ICAR-NRCM, emphasized the importance of scientific mithun husbandry for livelihood enhancement and conservation.

During the programme an introduction to the NERCORMS project on mithun breeding and conservation was presented.
The programme witnessed the participation of 107 farmers and stakeholders, followed by a farmer–scientist interaction session. Input materials, including 100 rolls of barbed wire, were distributed to the beneficiaries to support mithun farming.
After the formal session, dignitaries and committee members visited the Mithun Breeding and Conservation Centre, where monitoring and review of the facilities and activities were carried out to ensure effective implementation of the initiative.
