A two-day Bhumi Suposhan Programme, coupled with an Agricultural Fair and Regional Seminar on Applied Agricultural Technologies, was successfully organized on 20–21 March 2026 at ICAR–KVK, Longleng, Nagaland, in collaboration with ICAR–CRRI, Cuttack under NEH activities.
The event was graced by the Member of Legislative Assembly, Shri A Pongshi, 50 A/C, Longleng, Nagaland as the Chief Guest along with the esteemed presence of Dr Homeswar Kalita, HoRC, ICAR-Nagaland Centre and other senior officials.

The programme aimed to promote soil health, scientific farming practices, and technology dissemination while strengthening farmer–scientist interaction for enhanced productivity and livelihoods. It witnessed enthusiastic participation of around 1,000 farmers each day, along with officials, scientists, and stakeholders from agriculture and allied sectors.
The first day focused on soil health management, conservation practices, and demonstration of improved agricultural technologies. A Focus on Bhumi Suposhan highlighted the critical role of soil in sustainable agriculture, encouraging practices such as soil testing-based nutrient management and use of organic inputs. The Agricultural Fair showcased innovative technologies, inputs, and successful farmer-led practices.
The second day emphasized advanced technical sessions, covering climate-resilient technologies, improved rice-based systems for the NEH region, socio-economic strategies for enhancing farmers’ income, and entrepreneurship development including value addition and marketing. A dedicated farmer–scientist interaction session enabled farmers to share field-level challenges and receive practical, location-specific solutions.

The programme also highlighted the importance of capacity building, diversification of cropping systems, and strengthening institutional linkages to ensure long-term agricultural sustainability. Cultural performances added vibrancy to the event, reflecting the rich traditions of the region.
Overall, the programme served as an effective platform for knowledge exchange, skill enhancement, and promotion of climate-resilient, sustainable, and market-oriented agriculture in Longleng district.
