ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai participates in the Vesava Koli Seafood Festival

ICAR–Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai participated in the exhibition held as part of the Vesava Koli Seafood Festival, organized by the Koli fishing community of Mumbai under the leadership of Dr. N. P. Sahu, Director, ICAR–CIFE, Mumbai.

The festival was jointly organized by several fisheries cooperative societies, namely Vesava Machhimar Sahakari Society Ltd., Vesava Machhimar Vividh Karyakari Sahakari Society Ltd., Vesava Koli Jamat Public Religious and Charitable Trust, Vesava Koli Machhimar Nakhwa Mandal (Trawler), and Vesava Koli Sahakari Sarvoday Society Ltd., during January 23–25, 2026.

The ICAR–CIFE stall received visits from numerous dignitaries, members of the organizing committee, and the general public. The organizing committee members of the Vesava Seafood Festival along with many fishermen and fisherwomen visited the ICAR-CIFE stall and appreciated the team for its vibrant participation and for showcasing ICAR–CIFE’s academic, extension and research efforts.

During the festival, the ICAR-CIFE stall attracted over 300 visitors. A large number of attendees expressed keen interest in fisheries education and the role of ICAR–CIFE, Mumbai in enhancing the knowledge and capacities of the fisher community for their overall socio-economic betterment.
