ICAR–National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering & Technology, Kolkata, in coordination with KVK–Hooghly, Chinsurah, West Bengal, organized a one-day workshop on Demonstration and Distribution of Jute Mulch at the campus of KVK–Hooghly today.
Scientists from ICAR–KVK Hooghly and ICAR–NINFET, Kolkata, welcomed the farmers and briefed them on the importance and benefits of natural jute mulch in promoting sustainable agricultural practices.

The programme included a lecture and live demonstration on the application of jute mulch in eggplant cultivation, along with insights into the role of IoT-based applications for effective mulch use and monitoring.
A total of 150 jute non-woven mulch sheets, covering an area of 3,750 m², were distributed among 50 Scheduled Caste farmers, including vegetable and fruit growers from Balagarh, Pursurah, Chinsurah–Mogra, and Tarakeswar blocks of Hooghly district.
