Dr. M. L. Jat, Secretary (DARE) and Director General (ICAR), visited the ICAR–National Research Centre on Pig, Guwahati today. During the visit, he interacted with the Director, scientists and staff of the institute and reviewed the major achievements accomplished over the last 24 years.

Dr. Jat provided valuable guidance to the scientists, emphasizing future-oriented research aligned with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. He stressed the need to strengthen inter-institutional collaborations, develop comprehensive documentation on valuation of the pig industry in India, and prepare a national status paper on the piggery sector. His insightful and motivating suggestions inspired the scientists and staff to generate innovative ideas aimed at strengthening the sector and contributing to national growth.
Dr. Vivek Kumar Gupta, Director, ICAR-NRCP, welcomed the Director General and briefed him on the institute’s contributions in research, technology development, capacity building and entrepreneurship promotion in the pig and pork sector.
The visit was also accompanied by Dr. A. K. Nayak, Deputy Director General (NRM), ICAR; Dr. B. C. Deka, Vice-Chancellor, Assam Agricultural University; and Dr. C. Tara Satyavati, Director, ICAR–IIMR, among others.
