ICAR-Directorate of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research, Anand organized a programme entitled ‘Field Day for promotion and cultivation of critically endangered Guggul (Commiphora wightii) through farmers participation’ at Hadmatiya (Bedi), Rajkot, Gujarat today.

Dr. Manish Das, Director, ICAR-DMAPR, in his presidential address enlightened the farmers/entrepreneurs about the importance & uses of Guggul and urged them for cultivation of guggul to meet the increasing demand globally. He felicitated the progressive farmers with a memento and appreciated the efforts to cultivate and conserve the guggul.
A total of 25,000 numbers cuttings of Guggul were provided by ICAR-DMAPR, Anand to progressive namely farmer farmer namely Shri. Kunal Mehta and Shri. Chandrakant Patel for raising the nursery and thereafter transplanting in the 120 acres of land at Hadmatiya Village, Rajkot.

The institute provided the good quality planting material of Guggul raised at institute for large scale cultivation of Guggul.
