ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research (ICAR-DPR), Hyderabad, celebrated its 38th Foundation Day today.
The Chief Guest, Dr R.P. Sharma, Former Director, ICAR-DPR, highlighted the institute’s rich history and significant contributions to the development of rural chicken varieties. He emphasized the importance of strengthening farmer training programs and ensuring the practical application of research to enhance rural livelihoods and nutritional security.
Dr R.N. Chatterjee, Director, ICAR-DPR, reaffirmed the institute’s crucial role in advancing the poultry sector. He outlined its contributions to germplasm development for rural backyard poultry farming, the development of location-specific chicken varieties under AICRP, and advancements in nutrition and health technologies. Dr Chatterjee also highlighted the recent introduction of academic programs at the directorate, with the admission of MVSc and PhD students in Poultry Science under the ICAR-IVRI Hub, Hyderabad. Additionally, he presented a roadmap for the future vision of the directorate.
Staff members and students actively participated in the celebrations. Earlier, the Chief Guest visited the display unit and appreciated the efforts of the institute.
