Certificate programme on integrated nutrient management concludes

The 15-day residential certificate programme on ‘Integrated Nutrient Management for Fertilizer Dealers’ concluded at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya), Darjeeling. Organized in collaboration with Darjeeling KVK, the Fertilizer Association of India – Eastern Region (FAI-ER), Kolkata, and ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Kolkata, the programme aimed to enhance fertilizer dealers' knowledge of fertilizer application and soil health management.

 

During the valedictory session, Dr Pradip Dey, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata, underscored the critical role of plant nutrients in ensuring crop productivity, likening them to the lifeblood of agriculture. Recognizing the pivotal role of agri-input dealers, he emphasized the need to equip them with technical expertise to guide farmers effectively. Dr Dey further stated that the training, aligned with government initiatives, aimed to empower dealers as key enablers of sustainable soil health management and scientific nutrient application, ultimately fostering resilient and productive farming systems.

 

The programme brought together 31 participants from the West Bengal State Cooperative Marketing Federation Ltd. (BENFED), representing the districts of Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar and Alipurduar. This initiative sets the stage for a future shaped by informed and science-based approaches to plant nutrient management, empowering participants with valuable knowledge and skills.
