The closing ceremony of the 128th batch of the four-month regular training course was organized by the ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Dehradun today.
The Chief Guest, Er K.C. Pathak, Director, Department of Agriculture, Uttarakhand, emphasized the widespread dissemination of changing technologies in the country. He also emphasized on the need for the dissemination of natural farming, organic farming, geo tank, HDPE pipeline, drip sprinkler irrigation in different states of the country.
The Guest of Honor, Dr N.G. Patil, emphasized the importance of collaboration with the ICAR-National Soil Survey and Land Use Planning Bureau, Nagpur, in the training programs organized by the Institute. He highlighted that achieving the desired success in soil and water conservation programs requires the integration of soil-related information from various states across the country.
Dr M. Madhu, Director, ICAR-IISWC, encouraged the trained officers to apply the knowledge gained during the training to address challenges in various states, such as land allocation, groundwater degradation, and pollution. He emphasized that their contributions would play a vital role in the mission of natural resource conservation.
Subjects like soil and water conservation and watershed management, studies, and practical sessions on soil and water conservation engineering, soil degradation control, conservation agronomy, conservation forestry, and integrated watershed management were covered.
The programme was coordinated by Dr Indu Rawat and the four months training was coordinated by Dr Matbar Singh Rana and Shri Suresh Kumar, Chief Technical Officer.
A total of 23 officers from Punjab, Kerala, Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, Jammu & Kashmir and Assam participated in this training programme.
