Training on 'Scientific Pig Farming' and Input Distribution

ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, North Goa, ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, organised a training on "Scientific Pig Farming" and an input distribution programme today.
Dr Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR CCARI, urged the farmers to adopt climate-resilient pig breeds like the Goya, developed by ICAR-CCARI Goa, which thrives in coastal climates and offers better growth, reproduction, and disease-resistance.
Dr Udharwar S.V., SMS (Animal Science) and Head, ICAR-KVK North Goa, spoke about the scientific principles of piggery management, including housing, feeding strategies, and healthcare practices. He also discussed the formulation of balanced pig feed and key healthcare management practices.
During the event, 20 piglets were distributed to five farmers under the KVK Frontline Demonstration on Goya Pigs.
Shri Rahul Kumar, Shri Rahul Kulkarni, and Shri Vishwajeet Prajapati coordinated the programme.
A total of 14 farmers attended the training programme.
