Shri. Tejaswi S Naik, IAS, PS to Agriculture Minister, visited ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa, today.
He visited the Agroecotourism Unit, coconut-based integrated farming systems and rice experimental fields. The value-added products and varieties of the horticultural crops were showcased during the post-harvest technology laboratory visit. The scientists explained research activities on indigenous cattle breeds, piggery and poultry units, and fodder in the Animal Science unit.
Shri. Naik discussed the conservation of the germplasm, promotion of seed production, marketing of value-added products, promotion of agro-eco-tourism development of farmers groups and FPOs, etc. He highlighted different aspects of climate change and got acquainted with the development of climate-resilient varieties and production technologies.
Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, accentuated the research and development activities of the Institute and the way forward to address the issues of coastal agriculture.
