One day Farmers’ Awareness Program on Digital Soil Health Information of Jalpaiguri District and its utility in crop management has been organized by ICAR- National Bureau of Soil Survey and Land Use Planning, Regional Centre Kolkata in collaboration with Jalpaiguri Krishi Vigyan Kendra today.
The major agenda of the programme was to disseminate digital soil resource information including fertility status of the district among the farming community. Soil cum fertility management zone based crop planning, technological adaptation and fertilizer recommendation has been discussed elaborately in a two way interactions focusing on major crops like Rice, Jute, Tea, Pineapple etc in Jalpaiguri districts.
Dr. Jayanta Kumar Roy, Member of Parliament, Jalpaiguri has graced the occasion as Chief Guest and interacted with the farmers to encourage scientific assessment based crop planning.
Total of 100 participants including farmers, input dealers, FPOs across all blocks of the district were present along with state department officials and KVK staff.
Dr. F. H. Rahman, Head, ICAR- NBSS&LUP, Dr. S. K. Reza and Dr. S. Chattaraj, Sr. Scientist, RC Kolkata, Prof. Mrigen Ghosh, Director of Farms UBKV Coochbehar, Dr Biplab Das and Dr S. Sarkar Heads of Jalpaiguri and Uttar Dinajpur KVKs also present and interacted with the farmers, emphasizing digital soil mapping information based site-specific land use planning.
