Annual Review Workshop of NICRA KVKs of ATARI Pune organized at ICAR-CCARI, Goa

ICAR - Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa, ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad, and ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Pune jointly organised an annual review session for National Innovations on Climate Resilient Agriculture KVKs of ATARI Pune at ICAR-CCARI Goa. 11 NICRA KVKs presented their annual report and action plan.

Dr. S. K. Roy, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Pune highlighted the salient achievements of the NICRA Project. He urged KVKs to focus on unique technologies addressing the climate challenges in NICRA Village.  Dr. Roy also informed that Custom Hiring Centers (CHC) are climate-resilient technologies in crop, animal, and natural resource management demonstrated by KVKs.

Dr. JVNS Prasad, Program leader, TDC-NICRA, Hyderabad, urged KVKs to focus on the integration of NRM, crop production, and livestock technology at the household level.

Dr. S.D. Patel, ADE, AAU, Anand, emphasised the challenges of climate change for agriculture and the need for mitigation and adaptation strategies.

Dr. R.B. Singandhupe, Member Zonal Monitoring Committee, NICRA emphasised the proper documentation based on farming system typology at the farm and household level.

Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, Goa, accentuated that climate change is the biggest challenge in the coastal region and the focus should be on soil and water conservation technologies and the use of ICT-based solutions.

Dr. N.P Singh, Chairman, ZMC, urged to focus on small and marginal farmers, livestock production, and varietal intervention. He emphasised the need for linkage among KVKs, line departments, ICAR Institutes, and market.

Around 25 participants including Heads and Senior Scientists of 11 Krishi Vigyan Kendras and ZMC Chairman and members attended the Workshop.
