TNAU – ATARI Jointly Organizes the Annual Zonal Workshop of Zone X KVKs

The three-day Annual Zonal Workshop (17th-19th August 2023) of KVKs of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana organized at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. 

Dr. Udham Singh Gautam, Deputy Director General (Agricultural. Extension in his inaugural address emphasized that the KVKs should work towards carbon credit and water footprint principles while concentrating on rural livelihood improvement. He also released several publications.

Dr. V. Geethalakshmi, Vice-Chancellor, TNAU in her presidential address gave glimpses of cross-learning in KVKs, entrepreneurship-based business activities, synergy and linkage with the line departments.

Dr T. Janakiram, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Dr.Y.S.R. Horticultural University, mentioned that KVK is a successful system of the ICAR to enhance farmers’ income and skill for entrepreneurship.

Dr. B. Neeraja Prabhakar, Vice-Chancellor, Sri Konda Laxman Telangana State Horticultural University briefed the promotional activities of the KVKs of Telangana State. She also emphasized the importance of regenerative farming system towards water use efficiency and urged the KVKs to promote these activities.

Dr. G. Sugumar, Vice-Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Dr.J.Jayalalithaa Fisheries University stressed on inclusion of fisheries as one of the important components in all the KVKs as it is one of the growing sectors which could fetch four times the income to the rural farming community. 

Dr. R. R. Burman, Assistant Director General (Agrl. Extension emphasized the importance of implementation of OFTs and FLDs in the grassroots level extension and said that the KVKs are single window knowledge centres. 

Dr. Shaik N.Meera, Director, ICAR - ATARI, Hyderabad briefed the activities and new initiatives of the ATARI, Hyderabad. 

All 72 Programme Coordinators of ATARI Zone X KVKs participated in the Programme.
