Annual Review of Outreach Project organized

methane-review-2019The ICAR-National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology, Bengaluru organized the Annual Review of Outreach Project on “Estimation of Methane Emission under Different Feeding Systems and Development of Mitigation Strategies” at the National Agricultural Science Centre, New Delhi today.

Dr. J.K. Jena, Deputy Director General (Fisheries and Animal Sciences) reviewed the progress of the project. Dr. Jena appreciated the research work carried out by the participating centres under the project and expressed satisfaction about the patents filed, publications and products developed for the amelioration of enteric methane from Indian livestock. He applauded the attempts of the lead Centre, ICAR- NIANP in developing the state-wise database on enteric methane emission from the livestock.

Dr. Ashok Kumar, ADG, ICAR urged to demonstrate the developed technologies at the field level.

Dr. Raghavendra Bhatta, Director, ICAR-National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology, Bengaluru & Project Coordinator appraised about the genesis of project and its salient achievements.

The Annual Report for the Year - 2018-19 and a Brochure reflecting the Project’s research highlights and achievements were released during the occasion.

The committee opined for the continuation of the project for the next 5 Years for updating the methane database and developing the season and region-specific ameliorative measures as well as the field evaluation of the developed products.
