ICAR–Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna, successfully organized a one-day Training–cum–Workshop on ‘Harnessing Remote Sensing, GIS, and Machine Learning for Advanced Land and Water Management,’ sponsored by BAMETI, Patna.
The inaugural session was chaired by Dr. Ashutosh Upadhyaya, Director (I/c), ICAR–RCER, Patna, who highlighted the transformative role of smart digital technologies in modern agriculture.
Heads of Divisions addressed the participants, discussing key issues and opportunities related to digital innovations in crops, fisheries, livestock, and agricultural marketing.
Dr. Anup Das, Director, ICAR–RCER, Patna, conveyed his message, stating:
“This workshop reflects our continued commitment to integrating cutting-edge digital technologies for improving land and water management in Eastern India.”
Expert scientists from ICAR–RCER delivered thematic lectures on GIS and Remote Sensing, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and Drone Applications for Smart Land and Water Management.

Additionally, Assistant Professor from RLBCAU, Jhansi, delivered a virtual lecture on Deep Learning Applications in Land and Water Management.
The experts emphasized the promise of AI-driven analytics in enabling precision, sustainability, and efficiency in agricultural resource management.
The workshop concluded with an interactive group and panel discussion, facilitating idea exchange, identification of field-level challenges, and exploration of collaborative avenues for integrating advanced technologies into land and water management systems.
A total of 24 officials from various departments of the Government of Bihar participated, including 12 ATM/BTMs, 6 Agriculture Coordinators, 4 Block Agriculture Officers/Block Horticulture Officers, and 2 Deputy Project Directors.
