A nutritionally balanced and cost-effective grow-out feed for tilapia (GIFT variety), named CIFE-TilaGrow, was officially released on the occasion of the 65th Foundation Day of ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education, today. The launch took place in the esteemed presence of Dr. Ramaswamy N., Secretary, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries, Government of Maharashtra, and Dr. Dilip Kumar, Former Director, ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai.
To facilitate its commercial rollout, a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed between Dr. N.P. Sahu, Acting Director, ICAR-CIFE, and Mr. Sukdeb Mandal, representative from M.M. Fish Seed Cultivation (P) Ltd., Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. The agreement grants non-exclusive commercialization rights for a period of three years.
CIFE-TilaGrow has been developed by a team of scientists comprising Dr. Parimal Sardar, Dr. N.P. Sahu, Dr. Shamna N., Dr. Tincy Varghese, Dr. Subrata Dasgupta, and Dr. K.N. Mohanta. The formulation is enriched with essential amino acids, minerals, and nutraceuticals aimed at enhancing the growth performance and immunity of tilapia.
With the rapid expansion of tilapia farming across India, the timely release and commercialization of CIFE-TilaGrow is expected to significantly contribute to improving production and productivity, offering a valuable technological intervention for fish farmers nationwide.
