The launch was attended by officials from ICAR–Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Ludhiana, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Sangrur, and 30–40 progressive farmers from Sangrur, Mansa and Barnala districts. The participation of agricultural experts and farmers reflects a collaborative approach to technology assessment, field-level validation and farmer engagement.

Under the initiative, 10,000 acres are targeted for coverage across the country during Rabi 2026 to facilitate the evaluation of green ammonia as an alternative to conventional urea fertilizer.

In Punjab, six KVKs—Bathinda, Jalandhar, Moga, Amritsar, Sangrur and Hoshiarpur—will conduct 300 demonstrations each, bringing the total to 1,800 demonstrations across the state. These demonstrations will facilitate the systematic evaluation of green ammonia under field conditions and support the assessment of its potential for agricultural nutrient management.

The initiative seeks to strengthen field-level assessment and generate insights into the potential of green ammonia as an alternative nitrogen source, contributing to ongoing efforts to promote sustainable nutrient management in Indian agriculture.
