2nd Progressive Farmers Meet on Livestock production on January 24th, 2013The National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology, Adgudi, Bengaluru organized the 2nd Progressive Farmers Meet on Livestock production on January 24th, 2013. Dr. S. Ayyappan, Secretary, DARE and Director General, ICAR, inaugurated the meet as Chief Guest. Addressing the farmers, Dr. Ayyappan appreciated the innovations made by the farmers citing many examples. Innovative farmers meet is a unique concept built to bring the farmers and scientists on a common platform to discuss and deliberate various issues for sustainable development of agriculture in India. He also informed that ICAR has come out with the concept of smart farming for small farmers.

Mahadevappa, presiding over the function, informed that this is the decade of change and wished all the best in the future endeavors in agriculture research and development in the country. Dr. C. Reneuka Prasad, Vice Chancellor, University of Veterinary and Fisheries, Bidar, Karnataka briefed the gathering about the innovative technologies developed by the University and its role in development of Animal Husbandry and fisheries. Dr K.M.L. Pathak, DDG (Animal Science) and Dr K.D. Kokate, DDG (Agriculture Extension) also addressed the gathering. The progressive farmers adopting the technologies of NIANP shared their views of the help extended by the institute.

2nd Progressive Farmers Meet on Livestock production on January 24th, 2013Earlier, Dr. C.S. Prasad, Director, NIANP introduced the guests and extended a warm welcome to the guests and participants including more than 200 farmers. He also gave a brief account of the achievements made and technologies developed by NIANP. Ten innovative/progressive farmers were felicitated for their innovations in agriculture particularly in Animal Husbandry.

The main objective of the meet was to showcase innovative technologies developed by innovative and progressive farmers and also to showcase various sustainable technologies developed by the NIANP for the benefit of the farmers.
