The ICAR-Central Soil Salinity Research Institute, Karnal, Haryana celebrated its 54th Foundation Day today.
Dr. B.R. Kamboj, Vice-Chancellor, CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, Haryana was the Chief Guest of the occasion. Delivering the Foundation Day Lecture, Dr. Kamboj applauded the Institute’s contributions in the reclamation of the salt-affected lands of the country. The advantages of the skill development that provides employment to the rural youths through Agri-Entrepreneurship and Start-Ups were also highlighted by Dr. Kamboj.
Earlier, welcoming the dignitaries, Dr. P.C. Sharma, Director, ICAR-CSSRI, Karnal underlined the Institute’s major achievements. The development of the several high yielding varieties of Rice, Wheat and Mustard that are performing well in the salt-affected regions and also supplementing the reclamation efforts of the farmers in the regions were highlioghted by Dr. Sharma.
Around 150 Staff Members and Students of the Institute participated in the event.
