ICAR-National Institute of Veterinary Epidemiology and Disease Informatics, through its NaaViC Agri-Business Incubation Centre, hosted the Brazilian delegates for Phase-II of Maitri 2.0: India-Brazil Cross Border Agri-tech Incubators’ Program in Bengaluru, marking an important step in strengthening ties between the two leading agricultural economies.
The Brazilian delegates included Dr. Carlos Nabil Ghobril, Dr. Hamilton Humberto Ramos, Dr. Ana Eugenia, Dr. Priscilla Rocha Silva Fagundes, Mr. Sergio Tutui and Mr. Angelo Mauricio and others.

Welcoming the delegates, Dr. Baldev R. Gulati, Director, ICAR-NIVEDI, highlighted the institute’s role in safeguarding India’s livestock sector through advanced biotechnological and digital solutions.
As part of the programme, Dr S. N. Sushil, Director, ICAR-National Bureau of Agricultural Insect Resources, Bengaluru addressed the participants on the emerging scope of bio-inputs in India.
The PI-CEO of NaaViC introduced the incubation ecosystem and highlighted opportunities in animal husbandry and livestock enterprises, while experts led discussions on the sector’s economic importance and shared challenges requiring joint efforts by India and Brazil.
In a series of interactive sessions, the Indian and Brazilian delegates explored avenues for collaborative R&D, technology co-development, and cross-border incubation opportunities in agriculture and livestock.
The program also included a visit to ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru where Dr. T. K. Behera, Director, ICAR-IIHR showcased innovations in novel fruit varieties, value-added horticultural products, and successful technology commercialization through ABI, BESST-HORT.

Delegates interacted with incubatees and visited horticultural farms, gaining valuable insights into India’s innovation-driven horticulture ecosystem.
The delegation expressed strong interest in forging future partnerships with Indian institutions, particularly in co-incubation, student exchange, technology validation, and joint R&D initiatives, to be further advanced under forthcoming MoUs between the two countries.
