ICAR Directors of Hyderabad interact with FOCARS Participants

The Directors of Hyderabad-based key ICAR institutes interacted with the participants of 114 FOCARS at ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad today. The session aimed to inspire young scientists by sharing professional experiences and career insights.

The interactive session featured Dr. R.K. Mathur, Director, ICAR-Indian Institute of Oilseeds Research; Dr. V.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture; Dr. C. Tara Sathyawathi, Director, ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research; and Dr. Sheik N. Meera, Director, ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Hyderabad.

Dr. Mathur emphasized the transformative impact of agricultural technologies and encouraged young scientists to excel irrespective of challenges.

Dr. Singh highlighted the strength of the National Agricultural Research and Education System (NARES), reminding participants that impactful research must begin and end with farmers.

Dr. Sathyawathi urged clarity in thought and holistic thinking, while advising a healthy balance between personal and professional life.

Dr. Meera proposed a ten-point agenda for career growth and advocated for alternative thinking, adaptability, and a problem-solving mindset.

Dr. A. Dhandapani, In-charge Director, ICAR-NAARM, felicitated the speakers and acknowledged them for their valuable guidance.

The session formed an integral part of the FOCARS curriculum, designed to equip new entrants to the Agricultural Research Service with the values and vision necessary for impactful scientific careers.
