Farmer-Scientist Interface, Input Distribution, and Animal Health Camp Organised under SCSP

ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Old Goa, organised a Farmer-Scientist Interface, Input Distribution, and Animal Health Camp under the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP) at Nerur village, Kudal Taluka, Sindhudurg District, Maharashtra today. The programme was designed to promote sustainable agricultural practices and enhance productivity among Scheduled Caste farmers through knowledge sharing, input support, and animal healthcare.

The event witnessed active participation from 22 Scheduled Caste farmers (13 men and 9 women), with a focus on capacity building and the dissemination of critical agricultural inputs. Farmers were introduced to innovative, eco-friendly, and region-specific technologies developed by ICAR–CCARI, aimed at improving farm management, technical knowledge, and livelihood opportunities. A series of technical sessions were conducted by scientists from ICAR–CCARI during the programme.

As part of the input distribution, farmers received a variety of resources including Phospho Urja (PROM), traditional agricultural implements (fawdas, pikas, kogates, sickles, ghamelas), coconut and arecanut saplings, vermicompost, pest traps, and animal health medicines.

During the Animal Health Camp, a total of 24 buffaloes and 46 chickens were examined and treated. Farmers were also provided with guidance on managing common livestock ailments and improving animal health outcomes.
