Dr. Mangi Lal Jat, Secretary, Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) and Director General, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), visited the ICAR-Central Potato Research Institute, Regional Station, Modipuram, to review the ongoing research and development activities.

The visit began with a ceremonial tree plantation under the theme “One Plant for Mother,” symbolizing environmental stewardship and sustainability. Dr. Jat toured an exhibition showcasing diverse potato varieties, value-added products, and advanced technologies, where he commended the institute’s progress in potato breeding, seed production, and processing innovations.
At the Tissue Culture Laboratory, he observed micropropagation techniques and held discussions on Hi-Tech Seed Potato Production, with a focus on aeroponic seed multiplication systems.
An interactive session followed, engaging scientists, technical staff, progressive farmers, and entrepreneurs. Dr. Jat urged collaborative, innovative, and farmer-oriented research, and lauded the station’s role in addressing ground-level agricultural challenges.

He also released a Hindi publication titled “Aloo Ki Unnat Taknik: Pragati Evam Sambhavanayein,” highlighting advancements and future opportunities in potato production technologies.
The team at ICAR-CPRI, Modipuram expressed sincere gratitude to Dr. Jat for his motivating presence, visionary guidance, and continued support in strengthening potato research and seed systems across India.
