21–22 July 2025, Raipur
ICAR-National Institute of Biotic Stress Management, Raipur, in collaboration with ICAR-National Institute of Abiotic Stress Management, Baramati, and the Indian Society of Agricultural Economics (ISAE), Mumbai, organized a two-day Brainstorming Session on Biotic and Abiotic Stress Management and Policies in Indian Agriculture from 21st to 22nd July 2025. The event was partially supported by NABARD, Raipur.
The session brought together around 70 delegates, including leading scientists, economists, and policymakers, to deliberate on science-led strategies for managing agricultural stresses caused by biotic factors (pests, diseases, invasive species) and abiotic factors (drought, salinity, floods, and heat). The discussions aimed to develop a comprehensive policy paper to guide future interventions and enhance resilience in Indian agriculture.

The inaugural session featured distinguished guests including Dr. H. C. Sharma, Former Vice Chancellor, HPKV, Palampur, Dr. P. K. Chakrabarty, Former Assistant Director General, (PP&B), ASRB Member, Dr. P. K. Rai, Director, ICAR-NIBSM, Dr. K. Sammi Reddy, Director, ICAR-NIASM, Dr. D. K. Marothia, President, ISAE, Mr. Gyanendra Mani, CGM, NABARD, Dr. A. Amarender Reddy, Joint Director, SCHPSR, ICAR-NIBSM.
During the event, two publications related to stress management were released, contributing to the scientific literature on this crucial subject. The programme also featured four technical sessions, each chaired by domain experts, focusing on thematic areas within biotic and abiotic stress mitigation.
The session concluded with a consensus on the need for integrated research-policy frameworks and strengthened institutional coordination to support climate-resilient and sustainable agricultural practices in India.
