ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Kolkata -KVK Interaction Meeting (online) was organized today.
All the Heads of 59 KVKs of Odisha, West Bengal and A&N Islands under the jurisdiction of ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata joined in this meeting.
Dr. Pradip Dey, Director, ICAR- ATARI, stressed the need to transform KVKs to serve as a change catalyst and convergence hub for Indian agriculture during the Amrit kal to accomplish the aspirations of the Nation by 2047. He emphasized the need for KVKs to serve as district agri-tech epicentre and ensure the disseminated technologies which are nature, gender, and environment-friendly. He highlighted the need for campaign/awareness generation for popularising millets among the common mass during the International Year of Millets-2023 as well as the One District One Product (ODOP) concept. Importance of furthering Kisan Sarathi registration was also highlighted so that a greater number of farmers could access its benefits. In the line of One Scientist One Product (OSOP) call from ICAR, Dr. Dey mooted the idea of One SMS One Product for KVKs.
The constraints being faced by the KVKs were also briefly discussed.
