In a significant step towards strengthening the commercialization and wider dissemination of improved rapeseed–mustard technologies, the ICAR–Indian Institute of Rapeseed-Mustard Research, Bharatpur signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with M/s Abhimanyu Seeds Pvt. Ltd., a leading seed company, for the non-exclusive licensing of hybrid seed production and marketing of Indian mustard hybrid NRCHB-506.
The MoA was signed by Dr Vijay Veer Singh, Director, ICAR-IIRMR, Bharatpur, and Dr Rajendra Kumar, R&D Head, M/s Abhimanyu Seeds Pvt. Ltd, Hapur., on behalf of their respective organizations.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Vijay Veer Singh highlighted the importance of taking promising technologies and improved mustard hybrids from research laboratories to farmers’ fields through effective public–private partnership (PPP) and technology commercialization mechanisms. He emphasized that wider availability and adoption of high-yielding improved hybrids such as NRCHB-506 can contribute to enhancing productivity and strengthening the rapeseed–mustard production system.

Dr Singh further emphasized that increasing the area under improved varieties and hybrids, coupled with the availability of quality seed and appropriate production technologies, can make a significant contribution towards increasing domestic oilseed production and advancing the national goal of self-sufficiency in edible oils.
The licensing agreement will facilitate the production and wider marketing of quality seed of NRCHB-506, thereby improving farmers’ access to improved planting material. M/s Abhimanyu Seeds Pvt. Ltd. committed to undertaking ethical production, quality assurance and responsible distribution of seed to ensure that quality planting material reaches farmers in a timely and reliable manner.
The collaboration marks an important step in strengthening the research–industry–farmer linkage and translating ICAR-IIRMR’s research innovations into field-level impact for the benefit of farmers and the edible oil sector.
