Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) inaugurated a newly constructed University Guest House of the Central Agricultural University at Lamphelpat, Imphal today.
Dr. Mohapatra in his inaugural address acknowledged the hard working faculty members in bringing out the best students in the Region in particular and country in general. Furthermore, he emphasised on the need to build career of students and groom them to be disciplined. He further informed to the gathering that by adding 6(six) new colleges, now the University has 13 (thirteen) constituent colleges in seven states of NEH Region. He expressed his concern about the need to change the present system by a stronger system to fill the present vacum in terms of research in the Region which has vast scope.
Professor M. Premjit Singh, Vice-Chancellor, CAU in his welcome address informed the gathering that the University Guest House was constructed at a total cost of Rs.3.6 crores and further he informed that the buildings of the University Headquarters, which is also located in the same campus, will be completed very soon. This campus covering an area of 3 acres was handed over by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research from its campus at Lamphelpat, Imphal. He shared his delight on receiving four National Awards by the Central Agricultural University, Imphal during 2016-17.
The function was attended by Shri Sunil Kumar Singh, Additional Secretary & Financial Adviser, DARE/ICAR, New Delhi and Dr. K.M. Bujarbaruah, Vice-Chancellor, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat as Guest of Honours. Shri Sudhir Bhargava, Member of ICAR Governing Body, Dr. N.S. Rathore, DDG (Agril. Edn.), Dr. A.K. Singh, DDG (Agril. Extn.), Dr. J. Jena, DDG (Fisheries), Dr. S.V. Ngachan, Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya were also present at the function along with ADGs, Directors, Deans, Statutory Officers, Faculty Members, staff members and students of the Central Agricultural University, Imphal.
