State Coordination Committee (SCC) Meeting for doubling farmers’ income in Andhra Pradesh was held at the State Secretariat, Government of Andhra Pradesh on today.
Shri B. Rajasekhar, Vice-Chancellor, ANGRAU and Principal Secretary (Agriculture & Civil Supplies), Chairman of the SCC emphasized on working for the economic wellbeing of farmers. The state is promoting zero budget natural farming in 131 clusters to reduce costs, conserve resources and for making agriculture profitable to farmers. Higher growth rates in horticulture, animal husbandry and food processing sectors can bring higher growth rate in farmers’ income.
Earlier, Dr Y.G. Prasad, Convener of the SCC presented the backdrop and challenges for doubling farmers’ income in Andhra Pradesh.
Directors of ICAR institutes, State University Officers of Agriculture, Veterinary and Horticulture, representatives of Ministry of Food Processing, State Departments of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and NABARD presented the sectoral strategies and action plan.
State specific action plan integrating location specific technology solutions for raising productivity, cutting costs, crop and livelihood diversification, promotion of high value agriculture, processing, value chains and market linkages will be drawn up for implementation during 2017-18 to 2019-20.
