National Research Centre on Seed Spices celebrates foundation day

ICAR-National Research Centre on Seed Spices, Tabiji, Ajmer celebrated its 18th foundation day here today. A National Seminar on “Seed Spices for enhancing farmers prosperity and livelihood security” (21-22 January, 2017) was also organized on this occasion.

Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary, DARE and Director General, ICAR in his presidential address appreciated the work and research achievements of the center. He stressed the application of ICT to reach more stakeholders and spread valuable information to make digital India successful. He said mobile apps and ICT are powerful tools to reach stakeholders specially farmers.

Padma Bhushan Dr. R.S. Paroda, Chairman, TASS, New Delhi and former Secretary of DARE and DG, ICAR, New Delhi was chief guest at the inaugural session of the function. He appreciated the Institute for being a role model for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by keeping institute clean, parthenium and plastic free as well as developing the solar power facility at the centre.

Dr. T. Janakiram highlighted NRCSS research work and the problems associated with these crops.

Dr. Uma Shankar Sharma, Vice Chancellor Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur appreciated the work for region specific to spice crops and expressing satisfaction over the work to the latest Technology for farmers, crop protection measures, value addition and measures to increase the level of their income.

Earlier, Dr. Gopal Lal, Director, ICAR-NRCSS briefed about the recent major achievements of the Institute.

Directors of ICAR Institutes, representatives from various agricultural research institutes and agricultural universities, scientists and students associated with spice enterprise and progressive farmers participated in the event.
