ICAR-National Institute of Research on Jute and Allied Fibre Technology (NIRJAFT), Kolkata organized the 3rd C. R. Nodder Memorial Lecture here today.
Prof. Mangesh. D. Teli, Professor, Fibre & Textile Processing Department, Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai delivered the memorial lecture on “Glimpses of R&D Experience in Fibres and Chemical Processing of Textiles”. In the arena of textile chemical processing, he mainly discussed the advancement in different textile fibres as well as chemical processing technology in the recent years. He presented a comprehensive view of antimicrobial, aroma finishing and crease resistant finishing using non-formaldehyde chemicals. His interesting work on oil absorption by different fibres for oil spillage management in sea during oil transport and high absorbent cotton caught the attention of audience.
Dr. Swapan Kumar Datta, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Visva Bharati and Former DDG (Crop Science), ICAR presided over the function.
Dr. D. Nag, Director, NIRJAFT welcomed the gathering and briefly presented the life sketch of Shri C. R. Nodder, first director of the Institute.
