The group meeting of the All India Network Project on Soil Biodiversity-Biofertilizers (AINP-SBBF) was held at the ICAR-Directorate of Groundnut Research, Junagadh from 6-8th December, 2014.
Dr. A.K. Patra, Director, ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil Science, Bhopal and Chairman of the inaugural session, in his address, spoke about the importance of the network project on biofertilizers and the beneficial role of biofertilizers in sustainable farming.
Dr. A.K. Sharma, Director ICAR-National Bureau of Agriculturally Important Microorganisms , Mau emphasized the need for giving more importance to the identification of very efficient microbial inoculants for various crops, submission of the identified and well characterized microbial cultures to the microbial repository at ICAR-NBAIM, Mau and development of efficient inoculants for various crop plants.
Dr. Radhakrishnan T., Director (ICAR-DGR) gave a brief account of the accomplishments of DGR in groundnut research including the work done in the discipline of microbiology.
Dr. D.L.N. Rao, Project Coordinator (AINP-SBBF) gave a brief introduction about the All India Network Project on Soil Biodiversity-Biofertilizers and the research work being carried out in the project at different centres.
Ten technical bulletins on biofertilizers (including 1 in Hindi and two in Marathi) were released on the occasion.
About 70 scientists participated in the group meeting.
