Navsari Agricultural University (NAU), Navsari, N.M. college of Agriculture and Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Navsari jointly organized one-day awareness programmes on ‘Role of Anganwadi Workers in Combating Malnutrition’ on 16th June, 2014.
Dr. A.R. Pathak, Vice Chancellor, NAU presided over the function. In his remark, he said malnutrition can be overcome by educating the grass root level anganwadi workers in the rural and urban areas. Dr. Pathak informed that NAU is conducting intensive research on cereal crops, pulse crops, fruits and vegetables to enhance the production of food for combating the malnutrition.
Dr. A.N. Sabalpara, Director (Research), NAU stressed upon the importance of kitchen garden for obtaining nutritionally rich along with no-pesticide-residue vegetables for the family.
Dr. C.K. Timbadia, Programme Co-ordinator, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Navsari informed that many women groups are associated with KVK and getting regular training and FLD’s on kitchen garden.
Dr. Kannar, District Health Officer; Dr. H.R Pandya, Pratibhaben, ICDS Jalalpore, Supervisors ICDS Jalalpore; and Mrs. Gitaben Bhimani, Home science scientist, Krishi Vigyan Kendra also presented their remarks.
More than 250 aganwadi workers participated in the awareness programme.
