A National workshop on “Meat Traceability Recall: From Concept to Practice” was organized by ICAR-National Research Centre on Meat, Hyderabad in collaboration with Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Govt. of India today as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Chief Guest, Dr. M. Angamuthu, Chariman, APEDA in his address advocated traceability in livestock sector for the promotion of exports.

Dr. B. N. Tripathi, Deputy Director General (Animal Sciences) highlighted the role of livestock sector in national economy. The sector has potential to contribute towards trillion economy in Indian context.
Dr. Pravin Malik, Animal Husbandry Commissiner complimented the organizers for organizing the event. He spoke about various initiatives for promotion of livestock sector.
Dr. Amrish Tyagi, ADG (ANP) briefed about the initiatives by ICAR for the implementation of traceability.
Dr. S. B. Barbuddhe, Director, ICAR-NRC on Meat in his welcome address narrated the objective of the workshop.
Dr. R. N. Chatterjee, Director, ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research, Hyderabad spoke about the contribution of poultry sector in meat production and nutritional security.
The aim of the workshop was to discuss the potential of livestock traceability and its future implications.
Over 150 delegates attended the workshop offline and online.
A policy paper on “Traceability system for Indian Meat Sector: Concept and way forward” was released on the occasion. Various publications from ICAR-DPR, Hyderabad were also released.
