The 14th Foundation Day of ICAR Research Complex for Eastern Region (ICAR-RCER), Patna was celebrated on 22nd February 2014. Padmabhushan Shri Chandi Prasad Bhatt, environmentalist, social activists and Magsaysay Award Winner was the Chief Guest of the event.
In his address, Shri Bhatt cautioned the scientists about the possible impact of climate change and deforestation on agriculture in the Gangetic basin. He focused on the need of establishing Glacier Monitoring Agency in the country. He also stressed to consider the traditional knowledge system blended with modern science for storage, processing, value addition for upliftment of the poor.
Dr. B.P. Bhatt, Director, ICAR-RCER briefed about the Institute’s activities, outreach sessions, research publications, technologies commercialized and researchable issues for 12th Five Year Plan.
Publications on mushroom production, rainfed rice cultivation and integrated fish farming were also released on the occasion.
Dr. Ujjwal Kumar, Principal Scientist, coordinated the programme.
